Marienhütte GmbH – mechanical assembly

Graz, Austria

THE CHALLENGE

The steelworks places great emphasis on environmental issues – sustainable resource management and effective air purification. It also cares for the quality of life of the inhabitants of the agglomeration in which it is located.

At Marienhütte GmbH, a anti-dusting plant with a capacity of 900,000 m3 / h has been operating for almost 35 years. The constantly increasing production and environmental factors meant that a decision was made to renew the filter system and reduce the noise produced by the anti-dusting installation.

THE SOLUTION

Clean air and less noise in Graz

Our specialists added the anti-dusting installation, increasing the air purification capacity to 1,200,000 m3 / h. At the same time, the collection efficiency of the emitted dust was increased, which resulted in a reduction of the emission factor.

Fans are the main source of noise in the new anti-dusting plant (supplied by Scheuch) in Marienhütte. They emit sound through the outer shell of components such as ducts, pipes and filter covers. In this case, the only way to reduce the noise was to use insulating and soundproofing measures.

THE RESULT

At Marienhütte GmbH, we performed assembly work with a total range of 747 tons and acoustic insulation of devices in the area of approximately 4,000 m2.

Multiserwis specialists performed a complete mechanical assembly of the anti-dusting installation, which included:

  • Support structures for devices,
  • Platforms,
  • Staircases,
  • Ladders,
  • Filter funnels,
  • Chambers for clean and dirty air,
  • Ducts and pipelines,
  • Screw conveyors,
  • Pneumatic dust transport system,
  • Compressed air pipelines,
  • Collectors,
  • 5,000 filter bags, each approximately 10 m long.

In the field of acoustic installation, we have performed the following works:

  • Installation of acoustic silencers on the suction and discharge side of centrifugal fans,
  • Covering the entire surface of the filter (including the head, cases and funnels) with acoustic insulation.

The project included all mechanical, welding, installation works, tower crane service, work coordination and supervision of safety.
